SHENANDOAH NATIONAL PARK - PART 1 OF 3

Some facts about the Park:

Established in December 1935 - has about 200,000 acres
105 miles long stretching from Front Royal, Virginia to the Waynesboro-Charlottesville area.
Connects to Great Smoky Mountains National Park, NC

President Herbert Hoover had a "Summer White House" at Rapidan Camp. The Hoovers donated Rapidan Camp to the Commonwealth of Virginia in 1932 for use as a summer retreat for subsequent presidents.  In December 1935, it officially became part of Shenandoah National Park. The last president to use Rapidan Camp was President Carter in 1977.

  4. Sandra - I loved all your photos!! They are great. I especially liked the sunsets! Doesn't God just paint the most amazing skies?!

    And you are TOO cute!

    I also had to laugh at the gas station sign - our gasoline here in California is now $3.22 a gallon (that's for regular) - UGH!
